CBR temperature fluctuations induced by gravitational waves in a spatially closed inflationary universe.

چکیده
Primordial gravitational waves are created during the de Sitter phase of an exponentially-expanding (inflationary) universe, due to quantum zero-point vacuum fluctuations. These waves produce fluctuations in the temperature of the Cosmic Background Radiation (CBR). We calculate the multipole moments of the correlation function for these temperature fluctuations in a spatially-closed Friedman-Robertson-Walker (FRW) cosmological model. The results are compared to the corresponding multipoles in the spatially-flat case. The differences are small unless the density parameter today, Ω0, is greater than 2. CBR anisotropy from primordial gravitational waves in inflationary cosmologies.
We examine stochastic temperature fluctuations of the cosmic background radiation (CBR) arising via the Sachs-Wolfe effect from gravitational wave perturbations produced in the early universe. These temperature fluctuations are described by an angular correlation function C(γ). A new (more concise and general) derivation of C(γ) is given, and evaluated for inflationary-universe cosmologies. Thi...
متن کاملCBR Anisotropy from Primordial Gravitational Waves in Two-component Inflationary Cosmology
We examine stochastic temperature fluctuations of the cosmic background radiation (CBR) arising via the Sachs-Wolfe effect from gravitational wave perturbations produced in the early universe. We consider spatially flat, perturbed FRW models that begin with an inflationary phase, followed by a mixed phase containing both radiation and dust. The scale factor during the mixed phase takes the form...
متن کاملSkewness in the Cosmic Microwave Background Anisotropy from Inflationary Gravity Wave Background
In the context of inflationary scenarios, the observed large angle anisotropy of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) temperature is believed to probe the primordial metric perturbations from inflation. Although the perturbations from inflation are expected to be gaussian random fields, there remains the possibility that nonlinear processes at later epochs induce “secondary” non-gaussian featu...
متن کاملCosmological perturbations of quantum-mechanical origin and anisotropy of the microwave background.
Cosmological perturbations generated quantum-mechanically (as a particular case, during inflation) possess statistical properties of squeezed quantum states. The power spectra of the perturbations are modulated and the angular distribution of the produced temperature fluctuations of the CMBR is quite specific. An exact formula is derived for the angular correlation function of the temperature f...
متن کاملThe Cosmic Microwave Background Anisotropies: Open Problems
We present a review of some interesting theoretical and observational aspects of the Cosmic Microwave Background anisotropies. The standard inflationary model presents a simple scenario within which the homogeneity, isotropy and flatness of the universe appear as natural outcomes and, in addition, fluctuations in the energy density are originated during the inflationary phase. These seminal den...
